Eve-Teasing or, Teasing the "EVE"

When God created this planet, this world, he/she after casting out many creatures, created human beings to drive the wheels of life of intelligent living organisms. He/she at the time of his/her creation laid equal emphasis on man and woman and sent one each on this Earth. He/she (God) knew very well that, to let the vehicle of life go and accelerate, equal power is required on all wheels and that was possible only with a synchronization of everything – be it power, excellence, sensitiveness, love, courage, compassion or, anything required to propel the engine of vehicle of life. A static as well as dynamic balancing, even in a complex condition, was a must to keep the vehicle moving at constant speed, conquering every obstacle and bumper with much ease. Thus, he created Adam and Eve and, sent them on this Earth.

As time passes by, human beings keep evolving, gaining more power, excellence and thereby improving the style of their living. But, in this mean time, though we learnt to worship gods and goddesses, we also learned to dominate our better half, the empire of “EVE” – the women. “EVE” in the above heading also represent the “Women Empire”. It’s just a part of sarcasm that states or asks – “Are we indulging ourselves in eve-teasing” or, “are we teasing the “EVE”?”

The present scenario is becoming worse from bad. Now, we are living in such a society where, every single woman or girl, in some or the other way, is afraid of eve-teasing, harassment, rape or unnatural touch. The statistics available of such cases and the contents of daily newspaper prove this fear or shameful fact. Each day we hear about rapes, harassment or eve-teasing cases but, we hardly try to change our thinking, our taboo, or our ossified attitude against the women. The patriarchal wall needn’t be broken but, this should be melted down in order to form an alloy with 50% women power or equal opportunities for them.

 We aren’t doing anything great work by letting the women to achieve/to get what they deserve or, what’s already their birth right. Who are we to snatch anything from anyone or, to rob women of their basic and natural rights? They also have equal rights to live their life of their own, to do what they want, to achieve what they aspire for. It should be their choice what they want to become, it needs to be their selection who they want to marry and when they are ready for that. We don’t have any right to, and we also mustn’t, impose anything on them (women) or, force them to do what we like.

We have numerous examples around us which solidifies the belief that women in no way is different from us – be it in the field of education, business, sports or, art, literature and politics. Even in some fields, they are superior to their male counterpart.

So, it’s high time that we need to do some introspection and treat women like our better half. We don’t need to treat them as special, we just need to allow them to flourish, to move forward in their life without any obstacle on our part or any sort of fear in their mind.
